Objectives: Assess the performance and safety of non-absorbable thread lift
Introduction: The demand for facial rejuvenation remains high in surgical and aesthetic medicine. Surgical cervicofacial lifting is a radical approach to mitigate the signs of aging. For patients reluctant to undergo invasive surgery, tension threads are particularly appealing. This clinical study aims to evaluate the performance and safety of non-absorbable thread lifts under real conditions, with the primary objective of measuring their ability to support tissues 12 months post-procedure, based on patient satisfaction.
Materials / method: The study is a prospective research conducted across multiple centers, including the Henri Mondor University Hospital. It focuses on the clinical evaluation of non-absorbable thread lift. Recommended for men and women aged 35 to 75 years with mild facial sagging, these threads are also an option for older individuals who prefer to avoid more invasive surgery, provided their skin condition allows it. The main indications include cheek lifting, reduction of nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and enhancement of the facial contour.
Results: Follow-up consultations were carried out at 1 week, 3 months, and 12 months after the threads were placed. Overall, the threads maintained tissue effectively, with high patient satisfaction reported. Of the initial 60 patients, two were lost to follow-up by the third month. Four patients reported no difference at the three-month follow-up, and one case of infection was resolved with antibiotic treatment.
Conclusion: The non-absorbable thread lifts demonstrated positive outcomes, particularly in cheek lifting, reducing nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and enhancing the facial contour. The study confirms the importance of choosing an appropriate thread thickness to prevent them from being perceptible under the skin. We plan to continue monitoring the patients over a 5-year period to assess the long-term performance and safety.
